Frequently Asked Questions

for military homecomings

"When should I book my session?"

Book as soon as you're comfortable.
Majority of client's book their sessions 4-8 months in advance. I only take on 2 homecoming sessions a month to allow maximum flexibility and attention on my client's and their session. But I do occasionally have a few last-minute availability.

"How many images will we get?"

Our homecoming package is structured to be an all-inclusive package, so you will receive ALL the best edited images. Average homecoming gallery is 25-40 images!

"What's your turnaround time?"

You will receive a sneak peek within 48 hours of your session, so you have a couple nice images to share with family and friends. Your final gallery will be delivered 2-4 weeks during slow season (October-April) and 4-6 weeks during busy season (May-September) after your session takes place.

"How do we prepare for our session? Should we bring anything? What should we wear?"

Upon booking, I always send out a full session outline and pre-session questionnaire attached to your contract email. Within the session outline, you will find all the helpful tips and pointers on what you should bring to your session, basic styling info and brief review on the session you've booked. The pre-session questionnaire will go over more details regarding styling. From there, I will contact you to further discuss final wardrobe decisions if you need further assistance on what to wear!

"What's your policy on rescheduling, date and time changes?"

Don't stress one bit. My homecoming package is structured to ensure MAXIMUM flexibility. This means there are no penalties or fees for last minute changes or rescheduling. I know exactly how this whole process goes and the final date and time will change a dozen times, sometimes it will change the night prior or even hours before. So, rest assured, my schedule will be very flexible around your tentative date.

"Where will our session take place?"

Most times your homecoming ceremony will take place on Fort Carson. I'm familiar with the location and will happily help you with directions if needed. But your spouse should get all that info and be able to relay it all to you. Or you can reach out to your FRG leader, and they can answer those questions more in-depth for you!

"I'm worried about how our session will go. My kids don't like to sit still and are wild. I'm scared they might not be happy to see dad/mom. I'm not sure we will get images we love. Is there anything you do to combat this?"

DON'T STRESS IT!

As a fellow mom with two wild young boys, I completely share your worries. I have the same concerns with my own homecoming photos when my deployed spouse returns. But luckily for you, I've captured wild kiddos for a long time now and there's not much I'm not prepared to handle. The structure of my homecoming sessions is primarily candid and lifestyle. What this means is I will be hanging around, a little bit distant during "the moment" of your reunion so your family can be 100% in the moment. Most kiddos actually do amazing during homecomings and I haven't had a bad experience yet. As long as you're constantly talking about your deployed spouse and doing all the things you can to prepare them, everything will be just fine! The moment will happen so fast, you won't even remember all the things you were worrying about. Rest assured, I've got you.
