Frequently Asked Questions

for family sessions

"When should I book my session?"

Book as soon as you're ready.
Majority of client's book their sessions 3-10 months in advance. I only take on a limited number of sessions per month to allow maximum flexibility and attention on my client's and their session. But I do occasionally have a few last-minute availability.

"Are digital files included in the session fee?"

Your session fee includes 3 professionally edited digital images.
All additional digitals and artwork are purchased AFTER your session during your ordering appointment. Each collection includes a form of print products, and each print product comes with the corresponding digital file. Or you have the option of purchasing digital files individually, but you can only use your included print credit towards collections, NOT a la carte items.

"What's your turnaround time?"

You will receive your proofing gallery 2-4 weeks during slow season (October-April) and 4-6 weeks during busy season (May-September) after your session takes place. Please allow for an additional 3-5 business days for any additional touch-ups or refinishing on final images chosen.

"How do we prepare for our session? Should we bring anything? What should we wear?"

Upon booking, I always send out a full session outline and pre-session questionnaire attached to your contract email. Within the session outline, you will find all the helpful tips and pointers on what you should bring to your session, basic styling info and brief review on the session you've booked. The pre-session questionnaire will go over more details regarding styling and if you'd like access to my client wardrobe (I have tons of options, including lots for the kiddos and a few options for your partner!) From there, I will contact you to further discuss final wardrobe decisions and we can get you on the books for a styling consultation to try on dresses and other looks if desired.

"What if our outdoor session runs into bad weather?"

Don't stress, this happens fairly often. Colorado weather can be incredibly unpredictable. There are not last-minute rescheduling fees due to weather. I'm happy to shoot with cloud coverage and moody weather, but with heavier conditions regarding snow, rain or hail, of course we will get you rescheduled no problem!

"Where will our session take place?"

If you've booked for a studio maternity session, my studio is located in my very cozy little home, on the south end of Colorado Springs,
off Hancock & Milton E Proby.
If you've booked for an outdoor session, we will discuss what kind of scenery you'd prefer to have in your images, if you or your partner or any family members in your session have any mobility restrictions, go through the location options I have and narrow down your favorite. This will take place once you've booked your session and done your pre-session questionnaire.

"I'm worried about how our session will go. My kids don't like to sit still and are wild. I'm not sure we will get images we love. Is there anything you do to combat this?"

DON'T STRESS IT!

As a fellow mom with two wild young boys, I completely share your worries. I have the same concerns with my own family photos. But luckily for you, I've captured wild kiddos for a long time now and there's not much I'm not prepared to handle. The structure of my family sessions are primarily candid and lifestyle. What this means is I get a vibe for how the kiddos act, what their comfortable with, let them get to know me and feel safe around me, and then let them basically run free. I begin the session with a short little spiel, explaining how the session will go and what to expect. You'll interact with your kids, I'll offer small directions and prompts here and there, but the main idea is to be snuggly, have tickle fights, and share some belly laughs with those sweet little ones.
